It is with profound sadness that the Stamford community mourns the passing of Nicola “Nic” Tarzia, a respected businessman, community leader, and devoted public servant whose impact on the city will not soon be forgotten. A lifelong resident of Stamford, Nic dedicated much of his life to building not only a successful business, but also a stronger and more connected community for future generations.
As the founder of the Tarzia Group, Nic embodied the American dream through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His entrepreneurial spirit and leadership helped create opportunities for many while establishing a company that reflected his values of integrity, dedication, and service. Beyond his professional accomplishments, however, Nic was best known for the genuine care he showed toward the people around him.
Nic’s passion for Stamford extended far beyond business. He was deeply involved in numerous organizations and causes that sought to improve the lives of others. From his work with SPEF and the Tarzia Foundation to his support of Dollars for Scholars, he consistently invested in education, youth development, and community growth. His service on the Stamford Board of Education demonstrated his belief in the importance of empowering future generations through learning and opportunity.
Most recently, Nic stepped forward once again in service to the city by running for Mayor, motivated by his desire to make Stamford an even better place for all who called it home. Friends, colleagues, and residents remember him as someone who always carried a warm smile and worked to bring positivity to those around him.
Nic Tarzia’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of many. He will be remembered not only for his achievements, but for his kindness, generosity, leadership, and unwavering love for Stamford and its people.
